Cooking Poha Handvo, also known as Poha Pancake, is similar to serving up a bit of home. To make this recipe, first, soak the poha (flattened rice) and then combine it with an overnight fermented batter of rice and lentils. Then, to give a little crunch and spiciness, grated veggies such as bottle gourd, carrots, and finely chopped green chilies are included with the batter.

Poha Handvo(Poha Pancake) Ingredients

  • One cup poha (rice flakes, flattened).
  • Half a cup of semolina-sooji.
  • three-quarter cup sour curd.
  • 4 tsp raw potato, shredded.
  • 2 tsp finely chopped capsicum.
  • two teaspoons of grated carrot.
  • Chop 4 tsp of coriander.
  • tsp ginger-chili paste.
  • A teaspoon of white sesame seeds.
  • One teaspoon of mustard seeds.
  • One teaspoon of turmeric powder and one-eighth teaspoon of thing.
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes.
  • Water when needed.
  • Add salt to taste.
  • To shallow fry, add oil. handvo(Poha).
  • One teaspoon of Eno soda.

Step1:

  • Poha should be well cleaned, soaked in fresh water for five minutes, and then completely drained.
  • Stir in curd and sooji. Blend thoroughly. Add a little water if required.
  • Set aside for five minutes. Next, grind in the jar of a mixer to create a thick batter.

Step2:

  • After peeling, grate a potato. Thoroughly wash to eliminate starch. Grate the capsicum and carrot.
  • Pour the poha and sooji mixture into a mixing basin and mix in the chopped coriander, grated potato, carrot, and capsicum. Blend thoroughly.
  • Stir in the eno soda, ginger-chilli paste, turmeric powder, and chili flakes. Blend thoroughly. It will get fluffy and silky.

  • In a nonstick pan, heat two tablespoons of oil and add curry leaves, hing, white sesame seeds, and mustard seeds. Fill pan with batter, then cover with lid.
